The Magic of the Fourth of July in Schertz

Every year, there is a grand jubilee parade held in Schertz, Texas to celebrate the Fourth of July. In all the state, there is no better independence day celebration than the one you will experience in Schertz. This year marks an especially significant event, as it is the 40th Annual Schertz Jubilee. Just like in the past, it will be held at the Pickrell Park.

It kicks off with lots of pomp and flair at nine am on Saturday the 4th of July. As always, the entertainment will take center stage. There is an amazing line up that has been put together including Dean Seltzer, River City Kings, MC and the Mystyx, Cheyenne Gonzales, Tremmr, and Gunpowder Soup.

The entire family will have a blast at the parade. In fact, this is perhaps one of the best events to bring the family together. There will be plenty of live music throughout the day and the entertainment will cater to people of all ages. There is also the unforgettable Schertz Barbecue Cook Off that pits the so called best cooks in Schertz against each other.

Then, there is the parade!! Every year the parade is bigger and better than the last. The parade starts at 9:00 am, kick-starting the jubilee event and goes on all the way to 12:00 noon. There are amazing and colorful floats and a procession of hundreds of marchers full of character and color. Your kids can follow their favourite floats and dance around for hours of great fun. Not to forget the live bands playing all sorts of instruments and the vintage vehicles making their classic entrances.

As it is summer, you can be sure that the event takes advantage of the summer weather. Line your kids up and have them take part in the watermelon eating competition. Yes, it is messy, but it is healthy and such a great way to encourage competition. Added to that, it is great fun!!

You can take part in the washer tournament as well, or enjoy all the other activities that have been lined up. Win some prizes to take home with you and remember the festivities.

If food is your vice, then this is the place you need to be. Not only will all the Schertz specialities be available, cooks from all over the state will be preparing their favourite fair for you to try out.

As the event winds down, there is the last big hoorah that comes in the form of an unbelievable and completely spectacular fireworks display. The entire night sky will be lit up so bright; you may be hard pressed to believe that the festivities are actually over.
