Parents with a family of little ones will tell you how much having an accessible park in the neighborhood is such a welcome relief. Kids need to a place where they can play and enjoy themselves, especially when they may spend a significant amount of time indoors each day. From the simple routine of getting to school and returning home, life could get a bit boring for kids and adults alike.

Here is some helpful information on the excellent parks that you can find in Schertz TX. These are great for both kids and adults who love to picnic, take part in social sport, and even enjoy a day out with the family pet. Parks are great places to go when you need to collect your thoughts and free your mind.

 

Ashley Park - 534 Ashley Park, Schertz, TX 78154

This is a beautiful park that is a go-to destination for the entire family. It has excellent sporting and exercise amenities. These include a 25 mile asphalt trail loop, basketball courts, a soccer field and playgrounds. After taking the time to exercise, the family can gather round the set out picnic tables. Restrooms are also available in this park.

Schertz Community Playscape: 608 Schertz Parkway, Schertz, TX 78154

This playscape is unique in that it is fully accessible. Here, children don’t need to be able to climb a ladder or rock wall (though there are plenty of them) to be able to access the slides.  Planned with both young and handicapped children in mind, ramps lead all the way to the top!

This playscape has multiple drinking fountains, including ones for your dog.  One thing to keep in mind though, is that there is no onsite restroom.

Crescent Bends Nature Park: 12805 Schaefer Road, Schertz, TX 78154

This lush green park is located on a 190 acres within the floodplain of the Cibolo Creek. As a nature park, it offers much more than can be found in the typical city park. This is the type of park that calls out to nature lovers who are looking to experience native species, take long walks and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

In this park, you can take the time to walk through the 8000 feet of walking trails made from decomposed granite. There are also 2.7 miles of biking trails on an asphalt surface. If fishing is your activity of choice, the park features designated fishing areas on the creeks, and in the future, there will be a canoe launch site for those who love the water.

Pickrell Park: 701 Oak Street, Schertz, TX 78154

Pickrell Park is highly popular in Schertz, largely due to the fact that is among the best in the city as it is very recreational. Whether one goes to the park as a child or an adult, alone or in a group, almost anyone can feel at home in Pickrell Park because it has so much to offer.

There are a significant amount of facilities in the park and they include a public pools for swimming, basketball courts which provide an excellent training ground for the youth who are interested in the game and a good past time sport for people of all ages, and lots of open spaces to create games and interact with others. There are also plenty of benches to rest on, and picnic tables for enjoying a meal.

Schertz Dog Park

Schertz cares for its people and their needs. This is the very reason there are numerous dog parks in the area. The newly opened Schertz Dog Park is a place that every dog lover must take their four legged friends.

It is located on around half an acre of land on the Community Circle. This is the road that runs at the back of Hal Baldwin Municipal Complex. The park features attractive green benches for the dog owners to sit and socialize while their pooches run around and have a great time.

 

Universal City Park: 305 North Blvd, Universal City, TX 78148

This is an expansive park on 32 acres with amazing features. These include the three lit baseball fields with dugouts and the works. A half mile jogging path goes through the park, and there are sandy volleyball courts, a football field and a disc golf course. Kids can also have a great time here thanks to the two amazing playgrounds.

Stone Creek RV Park: 18905 IH 35 N.,  Schertz, TX 78154

This is a park that targets travelers, and it offers the very best of Texan hospitality. It has fantastic gardens as well as maintained grounds that are welcome to be used by large RV’s. It also features accommodation, children’s play areas and a dog park section.

 

Cut Off Park: 700 block of FM 1518, Schertz, TX 78154

This is a nice park to visit if you want to get away from the rush of city living. It is a smaller park with adequate space to relax and play. Additionally, the park has walking paths for exercise or just a casual stroll.

Schertz Skate Park: 840 Community Circle, Schertz, TX 78154

This fairly new skate park boast of approximately 4,500 sf. Professionally designed for the town of Schertz, a themed "Z" ledge feature not only serves as a great skate feature, and gives a nod to the letter Z in the spelling of Schertz. A skateboarder's dream, a flat rail is located in the middle of the park, with plenty of approach and run-out room in order to perfect essential rail tricks. Additionally, a multi-elevated manual pad zone with a quick transition on one side can provide endless opportunities for manual and flip trick combinations.
