A part of the Schertz Cibolo Universal City Independent School District, Cibolo offers educational opportunities you won’t find many other places in the state.

It offers an enhanced learning center for struggling and at-risk students, a number of dual-language programs, and even an agricultural facility where students can learn the ways of farming and livestock raising.

Throw in the three high schools, two junior highs, three intermediate schools and eight elementary schools, and you’ve got a great start for any child – no matter what age they may be.

About SCUC ISD

Consistently honored for its performance, SCUC ISD is one of the top school districts in the state. It even received the Texas Education Agency’s “recognized” status back in 2011 (the last year the ratings were released.)

The district serves more than 14,000 students in the area, including some from Schertz, Cibolo, Universal City and even more rural areas in Bexar and Guadalupe counties. More than 85 percent of those students are proficient in math and reading, according to state standards, and only a mere 1.6 percent drop out before graduation – a number that’s lower than the national average

The student to teacher average at SCUCISD is just 17 to 1, while the average graduation rate is a whopping 94 percent – well above the national average of just 82 percent and the state average of 89 percent. After graduation, students in the district tend to gravitate toward state schools, like Texas State, the University of Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and TCU.

According to Niche.com, students, parents and community members rank Cibolo ISD 4 out of 5 stars, giving it an A for academics, administration, education outcomes, sports, student culture, diversity and teaching staff.

The district offers a plethora of educational programs, courses and opportunities for students to learn and grow – whether that be academically, athletically or simply in their talents.

• IB program – At Samuel Clemens High School, you’ll find an International Baccalaureate program, which is designed to challenge students and better prepare them for performing at the college level. Available only by application, this two-year advanced studies program offers students an IB Diploma, which often garners extra attention from admissions officers and can help aid in college admission.
• Athletic facilities – SCUC ISD is home to the Clarence T. Shelton Athletic Complex, which plays host to most of the district’s sporting events. There’s a basketball court, baseball field, tennis courts and more. SCUCISD also offers a variety of other spots, including soccer, golf, swimming, cross country, track, wrestling, volleyball and football
• Arts opportunities –The opportunities for artistic growth and endeavor are countless at Cibolo ISD, with programs likes art club, yearbook, newspaper, theater, choir, band, orchestra and much, much more at schools across the district. SCUCISD even participates in UIL, which gives students a chance to receive honors (and state and national recognition) for their artistic talents.
• Dual language programs – Many of SCUCISD’s schools offer dual language programs, which allow students to learn a second language in a comprehensive, hands-on way from kindergarten through middle school. Some campuses also offer bilingual interventionists for students who aren’t quite up-to-par on their English yet.
• Steele Enhanced Learning Center – Another acceptance only program, the Enhanced Learned Center offers a supportive learning environment for students who are deemed struggling or at risk. Students need a counselor’s recommendation to apply, and they must go through an application and interview process as well.

In addition to all these opportunities, most campuses also offer honors programs, advanced placement classes and gifted/talented courses. The high schools even offer dual credit, which can allow students to get college-level hours for courses they complete.
