Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District is a three-county school district located just on the outskirts of northeastern San Antonio, in the south central part of Texas. The district is centered in Schertz but has expanded to include Guadalupe and Bexar counties as population throughout the region has increased. It now spans nearly 60 square miles, making it one of the largest school districts in the state geographically.

Academics
SCUC ISD has maintained the status of high-achieving schools in the state of Texas for many years. Its high schools are consistently ranked in the top 30%. Leadership training is a priority of the district, with more than two hundred teachers and administrators being trained as campus leaders through Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and another program, Thinking Through Quality Questioning (TTQQ). 96% of the district's students complete high school, and the majority of those go on to pursue a four year degree. In 2014 students in the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District received over $22.1 million in scholarships to attend college.
Access to International Education
Schools in Schertz offer area kids an opportunity that few districts in the country do. The Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD holds a charter for a program that brings a globally recognized academic program to the tri-county school district. The International Baccalaureate, or IB, program is a two-year advanced level program for area students that allows them to earn college credit while in high school.
The International Baccalaureate program is based at Clemens High School in Schertz, Texas. Students enrolled in the IB Diploma program take exams in six separate subject areas. In their junior and senior years they write an extended essay that helps them communicate more complex ideas. They also take a class that helps them to learn how to think and to apply what they learn in the classroom, the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course. Accolades:
A competitive spirt is a given in Texas. The UIL Lone Star Cup is a state competition of high schools from across the state that compares academic, artistic and athletic excellence, creating a state-wide ranking system. In the 2013-2014 school year both Steele and Clemens High School completed the year in the top 10% of all schools for their size and composition (4A and 5A High Schools).
